Numerous Reports of iPhone 6S Smartphones Exploding After Charging

While Samsung Galaxy Note 7 explosions have dominated the headlines for the past few months, its competitor’s product appears to have a very similar issue.

Multiple people around the world have reported that Apple’s iPhone 6S models are catching fire and exploding, including reports from New Jersey, Australia and China. The problem has become so severe that the state-run Shanghai Consumer Council released an official statement calling on the California-based technology company to step up and address the complaints:

“Apple should be responsible for consumers. A lot of consumer complaints are not solved effectively.”

According to the Council, they have received eight separate reports of exploding iPhones. In one case reported on Friday, December 16, the customer stated that their iPhone 6S began spewing smoke after it was unplugged from its charger before going up in flames.

Apple recently rolled out a battery replacement program for their iPhone 6S models after issues with longevity and unexpected shutdowns began to surface, but have yet to address the far more dangerous reports at this time.

Our attorneys at Power Rogers & Smith are currently handling a lawsuit filed against Samsung Electronics Co. and Samsung Electronics America, Inc. on behalf of a client who suffered property damage and serious burns to their legs after their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 burst into flames earlier this year. Attorney Devon C. Bruce, who is handling the case with fellow attorney Jonathan Thomas, commented on the incident stating that:

“Samsung clearly introduced a highly dangerous product into the market without proper design and quality control. This should never have happened.”
